Faraway Shores – Poetry

Placing you against my ear

I listen to far of shores collide

As a child, you transported me to lands foreign

With you, beside me, I was a traveller

Keeping you beside me, kept me safe

When life was bad, I travelled through you

Back to those foreign shores

Now I look for you on the shore

My hands bigger, in case a smaller one

I search with my daughter beside me

My life so good, I look for an old friend

Down by the shore where the foam is thick

I spy my old friend, picking you up

Now my little one listens, you take her to those shores
