The Little Known Feature on Patreon That I am Determined to Exploit.

And how you can, to diversify your writing.

Patreon has a follow button, did you know that? No, I didn’t, not until a couple of weeks ago when I was browsing through my patrons and found a lone follower.

By the fact this follower is a solo figure, I guess the feature isn’t known and even less used.

What is Patreon?

For those that don’t know Patreon is a platform where you can have your own creative page. You can then charge people to subscribe to your page, for a monthly fee. You set this fee, it can be anything from $1 to $1000. My subscription rates range from $1 to $30. Depending on which tier you become a patron on, will depend on the rewards you get.

The channel has been compared to crowdfunding, but I believe it is so much more. If you are a creative person, not just a writer, it is worth checking out.

How to Use The Follow Feature

The feature I stumbled upon, means that if you find an author’s page and don’t want to subscribe, you can choose to follow.

You will then be able to access any information a writer publishes for public viewing. You will also get notifications of these posts.

So Why Follow on Patreon?

Over the last couple of days, I have been trying to streamline my content. To offer exclusive content to those that subscribe to my email list or Patreon page.

Following my recent discovery, I decided the way forward would be to post friends links on Patreon for all my followers. A quick easy way to gain access to my articles, if you are not a Medium member.

Patrons will get the extra bonus of daily writing tips. Members of my email list will get my weekly newsletter as well as social media marketing tips.

Each follower gets different content and benefits depending on the platform.

Diversifying Content Encourages Followers

We can only expect our followers to follow us on so many platforms. Especially, if we offer the same content to each.

Through this approach, I am hoping to bring some quality to each of my chosen publishing routes.

If you would like to gain access to my daily writing tips then please check out my Patreon page.
