Getting Better at Trapping Post Ideas

How you save all your best ideas to produce content for months.

With an increase in publishing this month my first concern was would I run out of ideas. I knew I had to get better at capturing idea’s as they come into my head.

Throughout the day you can create many opportunities for post ideas. Although, there are advantages to letting this happen organically.

Whether it’s whilst you are watching TV or washing up you need to have a way to capture the ideas before they leave your head.

This is never more important than when you settle down for bed. I have lost count of how many excellent ideas I had when I was drifting off to sleep, to forget them the next day.

Electronic Notes

Several applications let you write notes quickly. First, it must sync between multiple platforms.

The two that I have used extensively have free versions. As with all my tips, I rarely suggest products that cost.

My first suggestion is for Apple notes. It comes on most devices pre-installed. If not it is easy to find in the apps store.

Notes are easy to sync between devices and have options for different folders. The range that you can save as notes is extensive. Photo’s, drawings and links can all be saved with a couple of taps.

The second program I would recommend is Evernotes. Evernotes has all the same features like notes and syncs as easily. The only disadvantage of this is the free version has its limits. You might find yourself having to pay to access the features you need.

Traditional Notes

I am an old fashioned girl, give me a paper and pen any day. I understand electronics are easy because we all have a phone in our hand, but this is not me. The problem is I have an obsession with notebooks. Different shapes, colours and papers. It doesn’t matter really, notebooks are my thing. If you are going to buy lots of notebooks, what you need is something to go in them.

That is where my notebooks come in handy. One for non-fiction ideas and the other for fiction. The beauty of a notebook is that you can write in it with the light off if you are clever. You can cut ideas out, move them around as you see fit. Yes, you can do this on electronics, but it is quicker and easier to do in paper form.

I make sure I have a notebook in all the common thinking areas such as beside the bed and yes one near the loo.

The Choice Is Yours

Whichever method you choose, you need to be better at trapping those ideas as they flood your brain. If you want to complete a hectic, posting schedule you will need material. There are plenty of ideas in a day for posts you just need to ensure you capture them as they flick across your brain.

What is the strangest thing you have used to jot an idea down on?
