Five Life Quotes To Live Your Life By

For many years I have been obsessed with quotes. My commonplace book has quotes from a variety of sources. Life quotes are those that follow you throughout the ages.

Whether it is the first sentence or beautiful prose, I write them down.

There are, however, five life quotes that have given me strength. Mantra’s to live by.

The Only Thing We Have To Fear Is Fear Itself — Franklin D Roosevelt

Many of us have past that cares us. We have been through past trauma that makes us reluctant to try again. By living with the fear of the last are we shutting ourselves away to positive future happiness?

Have you come out of an abusive relationship? In the future are you fearful this may happen again? Do you close yourself off to future love because of this?

I was fearful for years of putting my work out for towers to read. My head imprisoned me to write behind closed doors, where there was no chance of a breakthrough. Only when I looked that fear in the eye and started publishing did my creative life begin. I could have done this year’s ago, but I feared the fear of failure.

A Person Who Trusts No One, Once Trusted Someone Too Much — Saif

This is a new quote for me. Recently I wrote about losing my job and the reaction of friends. This wasn’t the first time this has happened to me before. I find myself reluctant to open up new friendships because I don’t trust anyone.

For many in similar circumstances, you may feel the same. As humans we are meant to be social, however, trust is another matter. With your reluctance to trust are you turning down opportunities, that could progress your career?

Difficult Roads Often Lead to Beautiful Destinations — Zig Ziglar

When I started my current relationship the path was not easy. For many reasons, we had a few bumps in the road. Throughout all the weeks of turmoil, I kept this quote in mind. It helped me to get through many difficult days. I am still considering having it as a tattoo. It all came true as well, five years ok and everything is sorted and my life is at a high.

If you are going through trouble keep this in mind. Nothing bad lasts forever. Continue down your difficult path and the beautiful destination will be yours.

Mistakes Are Learning Opportunities- R Long

Whether in everyday life or your writing life this quote has value. If you are not brave enough to make mistakes you will never improve.

It is only through these mistakes that we learn and develop. Admitting our mistakes is as important as learning from them.

As a writer don’t be afraid to make those mistakes. Many of us only have to look at our early work to see what mistakes we learnt from.

Within my teaching and mentoring I use this quote many times to encourage my writers.

Life is Too Important to be Taken Seriously — Oscar Wilde

As far as any of us know we are only here once. For this reason, life is too short not to have fun innit that is what this quote says to me.

Recently I have changed my life for many reasons. One of the main reasons being I was living to work, not working to live. I needed to change my outlook and spend more time with my family.

Our children grow up too fast and we frown old too soon. Don’t spend it miserable, laugh frequently and enjoy every minute of it.

No matter what stage within our life, quotes with come in and out of our life. Depending on our circumstance at the time some will resonate more with us than others.

Great writers produce prose that lasts for generations and resonates with many. These are five of my favourites. I could have written twenty or thirty.

What are some of your favourite life quotes?

  1. Ma’am, your quotes are phenomenal.

Below are four quotes from one of my favourite author-James Dobson.

    1. Satan wants you to give up on God, who seems to have lost control of your circumstances. But I urge you not to leave the safety of His protection. The Captain knows what He is doing.

    2. We serve this God not because He dances to our tune, but because we trust His pre-eminence in our lives.

    3. Nowhere in the Bible does God speak defensively or seek our approval on His actions. He simply says, “Trust Me”.

    4. God will never let you down- but He won’t let you off, either.
