I never seem to learn from my mistakes. Time and time again I over-commit on my workload and then worry why I am stressed and unhappy. Is over-commitment something you struggle with?
This month I start a new tutoring business working for myself. I am fed up of being at the mercy of unprofessional managers now I am ready to be my own boss. For this reason, I needed to look at the writing work and prioritise my input.
The first area I feel I may need to cut back on is my poetry newsletter. I underestimated the work this would take. In my naive way I though poets would be clambering over themselves to be featured. They aren’t and finding poets every week has become a major time drain. Incidentally, if any of you would like to take the newsletter over I am happy to provide you with all the details.
The other area that I am considering cutting back on is Vocal Media. The work it takes to create fresh content on there does not match up to the money I make. Medium provides a much better return on my time. My time would be better spent on a more profitable platform.
Writing This Week
The first piece was a spur of the moment piece following the tragic death of Caroline Flack. So much has been said about who could have supported her and her declining mental health. Few sources, however, have looked at the role of ITV in this. Last year they fully supported a male presenter going through a similar trial, whilst sacking the female immediately. Another example of gender inequality.
The last piece I published this week was one of my more personal essays and shows the journey I took into motherhood and how I now believe my destiny has been fulfilled.
Look Out For Next Week
As many of you know a number of my articles are originally written on my iPhone. On Wednesday catch a post dedicated to some tips and tricks you may never have heard of. These could double your typing speed.

I’m the same Sam. Saying yes to everything inevitably ends badly for me!

I definitely need to get better at saying no and prioritising what I want to do. Thanks for reading.
